Несмотря на то, что первый автомобиль был произведён не в Америке, именно её принято называть «колыбельной автопромышленности». Точкой отсчёта американского автомобилестроения считается 1903 год, когда Генри Форд основал завод Ford Motor Company.

Однако наше повествование берёт свое начало не с легендарного Ford Model T, призванного «посадить за руль всю Америку», а с не менее культового Ford Model B Coupe 1932 года. С появлением этой модели начался золотой век американского автопрома, продлившийся вплоть до 1972 года. В исследовании, затрагивающем 40 лет, мы проследим за тем, как менялся дизайн американских ретро-машин в разные эпохи.

Although the first automobile was not produced in America, the country is widely regarded as the «cradle of the automotive industry.» The starting point of American car manufacturing is considered to be the year 1903, when Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company.

However, our narrative does not begin with the legendary Ford Model T, the car that aimed to «put America behind the wheel», but with the equally iconic 1932 Ford Model B Coupe. The release of this model marked the beginning of the golden age of American automotive history, which lasted until 1972. In this 40-year study, we trace how the design of American retro cars evolved across different eras.
